Top 5 productivity apps for iPhone

Office working

The app as we know it turned ten years old in 2018, writes Business of Apps. In that same year, Apple  chief executive Tim Cook revealed that there were 20 million registered iOS developers catering to some 500 million weekly visitors to the App Store alone.

Statistics shared by TechJury found that a whopping 180 billion apps had been downloaded between 2008 and 2017, while by July 2018, there were around 3.2 million apps available to download from Apple’s App Store.

If you’re the owner of an iPhone, you have access to millions of apps that you can easily download at the simple tap of a button. But before you start browsing, have you checked that your gadget is covered with iPhone insurance?

If you need to you insure your mobile phone, we can compare quotes from our panel of specialist providers to find you a policy to suit your needs and budget. Policies include protection against theft and accidental damage, and you can insure your smartphone against loss for an addition fee.

There’s an app for that!

It’s fair to say that nowadays, there really is an app for everything. There are apps that help you save money, apps to wake you up, apps to help you find decent restaurants, apps that help you pass the time on your daily commute – we could go on (and on)…

But for the sake of this article, we’re going to focus on apps that can help you to be more productive both at home and at work. So, if you feel like your productivity levels are in need of a little boost, give these a shot:

  1. Wunderlist (free)

Who doesn’t love a good list!? Top of TechRadar’s best productivity apps of 2019 list is Wunderlist, a fierce contender for best to-do list across any app store.

Set-up is super simple, with Wunderlist allowing you to create all the lists you need and access them via your iPhone, tablet or computer – whether it’s a holiday shopping list, or a list of tasks for a work project. You can easily share lists, assign tasks, collaborate on lists with friends, family and colleagues, and attach photos, PDFs and presentations if you need to.

Wunderlist had a bunch of paid-for features that were made free as of April 2018. Microsoft bought the company behind the app in 2015, and there is speculation that Wunderlist will be replaced by the new Miscrofot To-Do app, which will feature full Office 365 integration.

  1. CamScanner (free – offers in-app purchases)

Want to scan a copy of your passport? Need to send electronic receipts for your expenses claim? Thanks to CamScanner, you don’t need to track down or dust off a photocopier to convert paper documents into electronic formats.

As Tom’s Guide explains, the app transforms your smartphone camera into a portable document scanner and OCR tool, allowing you to convert photos of paper documents into JPG or PDF formats  with ease. Once converted, you can save files to the cloud and/or share them with other people.

The app has nifty features like smart cropping and scan quality optimisation, to make sure final documents are great quality. The free version leaves watermarks on images, while a premium subscription removes them along with ads. Premium also gets you additional features including OCR editing, auto-upload and expanded collaboration.

  1. Pocket (free – offers in-app purchases)

We’re really stating the obvious here, but there’s loads and loads of interesting stuff online. The thing is, when you stumble across a great video or article, you might not have the time to read it at that particular moment – and so it gets saved as a bookmark and forgotten about!

Enter Pocket! This handy little app acts as a central storage for stories, articles, news, sports and videos to view later on. You don’t just save links, either; Pocket is able to download content for offline consumption. And if you like what you read (or watch), you can send it to someone else’s Pocket or share them via social media.

Pocket allows you to save directly from 1,500 apps, including Pulse, Twitter and Flipboard. The app claims that its clean and basic interface allows users to ‘rest your eyes and find your focus,’ as it clears away visual clutter, allowing your mind to focus on the information at hand.

  1. DataVault Password Manager (£9.99)

Remembering passwords for different websites and apps can be a real nightmare – but that’s where DataVault Password Manager can help. This app can protect sensitive and confidential information related to your log-ins, credit cards, bank accounts and more, using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) – the most powerful security tech.

The app can be synced with multiple devices, and it incorporates features like Face ID, Touch ID, Website Login, iCloud backups and advanced security options to safeguard your most sensitive information.

  1. Hours Time Tracking (free – offers in-app purchases)

If you’re constantly losing track of time (either at home or in the office) then this one’s for you. With Hours Time Tracking, you can choose from three options – Hours Personal, Hours Professional, or Hours Teams – based on the features you need, and create simple timers that track named tasks in real time.

You’re able to start, stop and switch timers with a single tap, and edit the visual timeline to identify and correct mistakes. What’s more, you can sync Hours across multiple devices, and link it with Siri to start and stop timers.

Hours can help you to see the type of tasks you’re spending too much and too little time on, so you can take action and be more productive!
