We use our iPhones for so much more than just contacting friends and family. We also use them to shop online, access our bank accounts, and for work purposes.
While advances in technology have provided us with many benefits, they also have some downsides. Our increasing reliance on the digital world has resulted in a proliferation in cyber-attacks.
Apple is well-known for its high level of security and privacy protection, with its iMessage using end-to-end encryption, for example. However, if you’d like to boost the security of your data, these third-party apps can help keep your information secure:
1Password
We all know that using a secure password is one of the best ways to protect your online accounts, but it’s probably fair to assume that many of us steer clear of more complex passwords for different accounts – mostly because they can be so difficult to remember!
1Password is a secure password manager, generating and storing your strong and unique passwords. It will then fill in your usernames, passwords, and secure information into forms on websites and supported apps.
Using end-to-end encryption, users can have peace of mind that all their information is secure. They can access the app securely with Touch ID and can even receive alerts to let them know if a site they have used has been compromised. Navigating your online accounts has never been easier – or more secure!
Keeply
Whether you’re a secret selfie addict or simply want to keep your birthday present ideas safe from prying eyes, Keeply provides users with a protected safe zone.
From photos, to private notes, passwords, secret poems, and card credit numbers, Keeply uses a PIN or Touch ID to ensure only you will have access to your data. For extra security, the app stays on your phone, instead of going to a cloud or server, so it won’t be exposed to the internet.
To stop curious friends, you can even set up a Fake Pin which, when used by friends or family, will enable them to enter the app, however, the folders will look empty!
Knock 2.0
If you’ve rushed out of the office on your last day before holiday but forgotten to lock your Mac or simply want an easier way of unlocking your Mac, download the Knock 2.0 app for your iPhone or Apple Watch.
Using new Bluetooth Low Energy technology, Knock 2.0 lets users unlock or lock their Mac by knocking their iPhone twice or tapping their Apple Watch.
Before you download the app, don’t forget to check that your Mac is compatible!
Find My iPhone
You might have installed all the top security apps on your phone, but there aren’t any apps that can stop your iPhone from being lost or stolen. You can, however, use Find my iPhone if you ever need to track your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
To enable Find My iPhone, open the Settings app, click Apple ID > iCloud > Find My iPhone and switch it on. It must be enabled before you use it. You will be able to find the location of your device as long as it has internet connection.
