We have become inseparable from our gadgets such as smartphones and tablets. We use them to keep in touch with our friends and family, take pictures and share them on social media, or have fun playing games.
Electronic gadgets are an integral part of our lives, but they’re also quite expensive. Carrying such gadgets around with you means that you’re vulnerable to dangers such as theft, loss or damage.
Quality smartphones or tablets are expensive, and their loss can have a massive impact on your wallet - not to mention the inconvenience of not having a mobile phone or tablet to use in your daily life. Moreover, many gadgets come as part of contracts signed with service providers. For example, if you’ve got an iPhone by agreeing to sign a contract, you’ll have to keep paying for it even when you damage or lose your phone.
That’s why it’s smart to take action right now and protect yourself against such risk. You can do that by covering your gadgets with a particular type of insurance called Gadget Insurance.
As part of our gadget cover, you can insure any type of gadget such as a smartphone or tablet. If the gadget you would like to insure is not in our list, give us a call to see if we can add it. Take a look at the cover we offer because you might find the type of insurance that suits your gadget best.
For example, if you would like to get insurance for your mobile phone, check out insurance policies, which we developed with mobile phone owners in mind. The insurance provides coverage of all the recent models.
One thing you should be aware of before purchasing a gadget insurance contract is reading it carefully to see which type of exclusions apply.
Please see our Terms and Conditions for all exclusions to understand the cover we offer and any exclusions within you gadget insurance policy.
You can insure your gadget with us under a few conditions:
- The gadget must be in good condition and full working order prior to purchasing the policy
- Gadgets insured under this policy must have been purchased and shipped from within the UK
- The device must be less than 18 months old when you first purchase the insurance
- To make a claim you will need to evidence proof of purchase with a copy of your receipt, delivery note or confirmation from your network provider
- You must be a permanent resident of the United Kingdom
- You need to be at least 18 years of age
To make a claim, you need to do the following:
If your claim is for damage, we will ask you to send the gadget to our nominated repair centre where we can inspect and repair it. We aim to repair or replace items within 5 to 7 working days.
If your claim if for the theft or loss of your gadget you must report the theft or loss to the police and your service provider no later than 48 hours after you notice that your gadget is missing.
Next, you need to contact us. Make sure to do that as quickly as possible - within 48 hours from discovering loss or theft of your gadget.
You can call our dedicated Claim Advisors on 0203 794 9294. You can also send us an email to gadgetcoverclaims@directgroup.co.uk. If you take longer than 48 hours to contact us, you risk your claim being delayed or rejected.

If we approve the claim, you will need to pay the policy excess to let us proceed with the claim. Make sure that you provide us with all the required documentation and pay the excess as quickly as possible - any delay may make the process longer.
